SPF you’ll want to wear.

Sunscreen is a product we’re often asked about. It’s not something we plan on formulating anytime soon, but it’s definitely a product we encourage you to incorporate into your daily skincare routine.

How do I know which sunscreen to use?

The market is flooded with sunscreen options.

UVA, UVB, physical, mineral, non-comedegenic, SPF 30, SPF 50 can be found on the labels and it can be super confusing to know which one sunscreen is the right one for our skin.

It can be a case of trial and error and I firmly believe that any sunscreen is better than none.

However, I’ve done some research for you and here are 5 sunscreens your skin will love.

1. Neutrogena Ultra Sheer face & body

Recommended by our dermatoligst, Neutorgena Ultra Sheer Face & Body is lightweight, non-comedegenic (meaning it won’t clog your pores – it’s a great option for anyone suffering from breakouts of acne) and provides both UVA and UVB protection.

What is UVA and UVB? They’re two separate forms of damaging ultraviolet rays. The easiest way to remember the difference is that A is for ageing (the UV rays that permanently damage your skin cells) and B is for burning (sunburn and sun damage)

2. Invisible zinc

With a high SPF rating, protection from both UVA and UVB rays and zinc ocide as the key ingredient, Invisible Zinc Face & Body SPF50 works hard to protect your skin.

I use this one during the peak of summer. It does leave a white cast on your face (that’s the zinc oxide doing its thing) but that does settle down by the time you’re ready to have some fun in the sun.

Pro tip: Always apply sunscreen 20 minutes before heading outside.

3. La Roche-Posay Anthelios Ultra Cream Sunscreen

Designed specifically for sensitive skin, La Roche-Posy Athelios Ultra Cream delivers both UVA and UVB protection.

4. Ultra Violette Clean Screen

Made for all skin types, especially those skin sensitivities, Clean Screen offers both UVA and UVB protection that’s free from parabens, preservatives, synthetic fragrances, chemical filters, oxybenzone, cruelty, and any trace of a sticky white grease.

It’s my current sunscreen of choice and I love that it not only offers awesome sun protection but it’s also Australian made and owned.

5. We Are Feel Good Inc. Sunscreen Lotion

Another Aussie made and owned sunscreen that offers broad spectrum protection and gorgeous packaging – not a sunscreen necessity, but it definitely helps 😉 – We Are Feel Good Inc. Sunscreen Lotion is also up to four hours water resistant.

When should I apply sunscreen?

Sunscreen should part of your morning skin care routine. Apply it every day – even on cloudy days – after your face oil or moisturiser and before your makeup.

Pro tip: Makeup containing SPF isn’t enough protection. Think of it as a bonus layer and not something to replace a regular SPF sunscreen.
