5 ways to take care of your skin this winter

1. Drink all the water

This is a hard one to remember when it’s cold and it’s often the last thing we feel like doing. However keeping hydration levels up is one of the best things we can do for our skin.

Struggling to drink enough water during winter? A caffeine-free herbal tea is a great alternative.

2. Revise your skincare routine

Foaming cleansers and lightweight moisturisers might not be the best thing for your skin during winter.

Instead try nourishing your skin with an oil cleanser, a gentle cream cleanser or a cleansing balm.

Add a face oil into your routine – Sleep On It is a blissful night oil that works hard to nourish and hydrate as you drift off to sleep – and add a heavier moisturiser if your skin needs it.

3. Exfoliate

Gentle exfoliation once or twice a week helps to remove dead skin and speeds up cell turnover, which can lead to a more radiant-looking skin.

It also has the added bonus of allowing your face oils and richer moisturisers to sink into the skin beautifully.

4. eat those good fats

What we eat plays a huge role in how our skin looks and feels. A diet that’s rich in healthy fats – avocado, olives, olive oil, nuts – can help maintain smooth, soft skin.

Don’t forget to add a couple of serves of Omega-3 in there too. Think salmon, tuna, walnuts and flaxseeds.  Not quite as fun as a decadent dessert, but one of those every now and again is all good too! Life is definitely about balance.

5. replace your moisturiser with a body oil

Oils are really clever because they have smaller molecules than regular moisturisers. This means they’re able to hydrate more intensely than cream based products.

Noticing that your legs and arms are still scaly even after lathering them in your moisturising cream? Try switching to a body oil.
