Struggling to get enough sleep each night? Our favourite blogger, Caley Joelle has some helpful tips for you.

There is nothing better than a good night’s sleep.

Getting enough quality sleep is so important for our health, with countless proven benefits including improved memory, lowered stress levels, and restoration and healing of our bodies.

While many of us attempt to get the ideal 8 hours of shut eye every night,  every now and then (ok for some of us more frequently), we find ourselves tossing and turning in bed trying to get to sleep with no avail.

After being on the go all day, we can often struggle winding down, switching off, and ultimately falling asleep.

Having a bedtime routine is a sure way to equip you for a better night’s sleep. Here are 6 bedtime habits that can help you on your way.

6 bedtime habits for a better night’s sleep

1. Disconnect

An hour before going to bed, set your alarm for the morning and turn off your phone and any other electronic devices in use, including the TV.

Use this time to disconnect with the world and reconnect with yourself and/or your family – reading a book, chatting with your partner or kids, having a bath are great alternatives to scrolling through your phone.

2. Remove your makeup

Before going to bed take your makeup off, clean your face and apply your Sleep On It® face oil.  The beautiful infusion of lavender and chamomile in this luxe blend of natural plant oils will help calm the mind and nourish the skin, all while you’re drifting off to sleep.

3. Read and write

Take time to read a book, or write in a journal about your feelings, goals and aspirations.

Use this time to get to know yourself better and clear your head of any lingering thoughts before turning the lights out.

4. Meditate

Focusing on your breathing helps your body to relax and allows you to be in the present moment.

It has been proven that meditation helps relieve stress and calms the mind, and stops it thinking about the millions of things on your to-do list.

5. Use essential oils

Diffuse some essential oils in your room that help calm and relax you. I personally spray an anti-stress and sleep spray on my pillow of a night time, and also use lavender oil during high stress periods.

6. Hydrate your skin

When you sleep, your body heals and restores itself. Spending some time applying your choice of bettyquette Body Oil before bed will help nourish your skin, making it look and feel hydrated in the morning ready for whatever the day ahead has in store.
